SB13 offers a wide range of educational and public programmes throughout the Biennial period which respond to the exhibitions, encourage public engagement, urban research and creativity. Programmes are designed for all ages and abilities as well as for schools and community groups.

School and Youth Centre Education Programme

Sharjah Art Foundation School and Youth Centre Education Programme includes workshops designed specifically for groups, schools and youth centres. Taught by professional artists, each workshop is designed to encourage participants’ creativity, develop their communication skills and enrich their knowledge of art. The programme for SB 13, inspired by the key words of water, crops, earth and the culinary, runs from 10 March through 11 June 2017.

Disabilities’ Education Programme

Sharjah Art Foundation Disabilities’ Education Programme welcomes participants of all abilities. The workshops and courses are designed for individuals with physical, learning and developmental difficulties to help them discover new ways of self-expression through art. All workshops are guided by experienced professionals and are designed for participants ranging from 3 to 18 years of age. All events are free and open to the public.

Children’s Education Programme

Sharjah Art Foundation Children’s Education Programme offers art workshops every Saturday for children aged 7 to 15 years. All workshops are conducted by professional specialist artists in all fields of art, with the goal of teaching children technical skills and strengthening their expression of creative ideas. Workshops are held in the Collections Building unless otherwise noted.

Adult Education Programme

Targeting adults aged sixteen and older, SB13 Adult Education Programme consists of discussion sessions, excursions, architectural tours, workshops and courses that are designed in parallel to the theme of the biennial and the site specific works. The programme addresses topics such as art and social change, archiving iconic architecture, performance and translation of thoughts.

Community and Outreach Programme

The SB13 Community and Outreach Programme offers a variety of engaging community workshops and excursions inspired by the key words of water, crops, earth and the culinary. These immersive workshops, emphasising public participation, urban research, sustainability and creativity, will take place in Al Mureijah Square, Arts Square, the Urban Garden, #SAFneighbourhood and the surrounding area.
