Description

In Education for Socially Engaged Art: A Materials and Techniques Handbook, artist and educator Pablo Helguera writes, ‘. . . what characterises socially engaged art is its dependence on social intercourse as a factor of its existence.’ The work of each of the artists in this session not only reflects their strong relationship to communities but also rejects the assumption that community is a static entity, exploring ways in which art can play an integral and transformative role in society.
