Solange Farkas


Biography

Solange Oliveira Farkas is a curator with a career spanning twenty-five years. She founded the International Contemporary Art Festival SESC_Videobrasil and has curated exhibitions such as the Pan-African Exhibition of Contemporary Art (Salvador, 2005), La Mirada Discreta: Marcel Odenbach & Robert Cahen (Buenos Aires, 2006), Roteiro Amarrado (CCBB Rio de Janeiro, 2010) Suspensão e Fluidez (arco, Madri, 2007), Sophie Calle – Cuide de você (São Paulo and Salvador, 2009), and the exhibition Joseph Beuys: We Are the Revolution, which was shown in both São Paulo and Salvador in 2010-2011. She was the director and curator of the Museum of Modern Art of Bahia between 2007–2010. Farkas is also winner of the Sergio Motta Hors Concours Award (2004), jury member for the Nam June Paik Award in Germany and board member at Escola São Paulo. She is now preparing the 17th edition of the International Contemporary Art Festival SESC_Videobrasil, which will take place in São Paulo, from October to December 2011.
