Overview

Excursions to SAF Remote Locations is a series of visits to explore historic buildings that SAF is preserving. Spread throughout the year, the excursions will each include a brief introduction to the history of the location followed by a drawing and photography session focusing on the architectural features of the building. Participants will learn how to create both aesthetically pleasing and accurate representations of the buildings.

About Kalba Kindergarten

Kalba Kindergarten was designed by the renowned Arab modernist architects George Rais and Jaafar Tukan. The two architects were commissioned by the Ministry of Education in the United Arab Emirates in 1973 to design a kindergarten prototype that would be adaptable in different locations around the Emirates. Over 13 kindergartens were constructed by 1976. While most still maintain their original function, a few have been knocked down and many have been architecturally altered.
