Workshop Description

Kalba Kindergarten was designed by the renowned Arab modernist architects George Rais and Jaafar Tukan. In 1973, the two architects were commissioned by the UAE Ministry of Education to design a kindergarten prototype that would be adaptable to different locations around the country. Over 13 kindergartens were constructed by 1976. While most still maintain their original function, a few have been knocked down and many have been architecturally altered.
Participants will learn about the history of Kalba Kindergarten and then take part in a sketching session.
