Overview
Sharjah Art Foundation’s Education Programme at Art Centres invites you to join in the 2019 Ramadan Nights festivities at Al Madam Art Centre, Kalba Art Centre and Khorfakkan Art Centre. Running from 19 to 21 May for participants aged 7 and above, the programme includes several Ramadan-inspired art workshops as well as other activities and games for all ages. Food will be available.
All workshops are in Arabic, unless otherwise stated, and materials will be provided by Sharjah Art Foundation. The Ramadan Nights programme for 2019 is free and open to the public.

Workshop: Acrylic and Soft Pastel Painting
9:00 pm–10:30 pm
In this workshop, participants will paint Ramadan-inspired paintings using acrylic and soft pastel colours.
Workshop: Writing on Pillows Using Square Kufic Script
9:00 pm–10:30 pm
In this workshop, participants will learn the rules and tools required to write on pillows using square Kufic script.
Workshop: Making Ceramic Wall Hangings for Ramadan
9:00 pm–10:30 pm
In this workshop, participants will create ceramic wall hangings related to Ramadan themes. They will form, cut and arrange clay panels in a sequential and balanced way and then glaze their panels, which will be fired in a kiln. The panels will be pierced so that participants can insert wires to connect the panels together to make their wall hanging. They can pick up their finished wall hangings after the workshop.
Workshop: Table Painting

In this workshop, family members of all ages will work together to paint a white table, which they can take home once complete.
Workshop: Cake Decorating
10:30 pm–12:00 am
In this workshop, family members of all ages will work together to decorate a cake. The cake and decorative tools will be provided.

Workshop: Islamic Ceramics
9:00 pm–10:30 pm
In this workshop, participants will cut clay panels into different sizes and use various ceramic paints to decorate them. They will also write on and decorate ceramic shapes of their own design to demonstrate the beauty of Islamic ceramic art.
Workshop: Writing ‘Ahlan Ramadan’ in Calligraphy
9:00 pm–10:30 pm
In this workshop, participants will learn how to write ‘Ahlan Ramadan’ and other sentences related to Ramadan in Arabic calligraphy.
Workshop: Making Ceramic Bookends with Felt Ramadan Decorations

In this workshop, participants will use clay panels to craft book ends and then use felt to decorate them with Ramadan-inspired designs.
Workshop: Cake Decorating

Workshop: Writing Quranic Script

In this workshop, participants will learn how to prepare and write a page of the Holy Quran. They will learn which pen width to use and study the spaces between lines, margins and word order.
Workshop: Painting Botanical Designs with Acrylic Colours

Participants will learn how to paint decorative botanical designs on fabric with acrylic colours.
Workshop: Making a Ceramic Pentagonal Cube
9:00 pm–10:30 pm
In this workshop, participants will learn how to make a ceramic pentagonal cube. Each participant will cut ceramic panels, decorate them and then assemble the different pieces into the desired cube shape.
Workshop: Family Portrait
10:30 pm–12:00 am
In this workshop, family members of all ages will work together to draw a family portrait on either a wall or a table.
Workshop: Table Painting

In this workshop, family members of all ages will work together to paint a white table, which they can take home once complete.
