In the three sessions of this introductory course, participants will learn the basics of the theatrical arts. The aim of the first part of the course is to facilitate participants’ understanding of how to create and use puppets for theatre and how to design and make costumes.
Inspired by the work of SB14 artist Hannah Black, participants will learn how to make puppets. They can create their puppets using the different materials provided, such as Styrofoam balls, fabric, felt, paper and yarn. At the end of the workshop, participants will be encouraged to perform a simple story with their puppets.
In this workshop, participants will learn the basics of costume design. They will learn the skills needed to design and sew a simple costume.
