Biography

Encompassing photography, video and digital media, Abdullah Al Mutairi’s work reflects his interests in identity, gender, religion and technology in the Arabian Gulf as well as the effects of globalisation and corporate or national branding.

His work has been exhibited in the Middle East, Europe and the United States in such institutions as Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, Doha (2013) and the Serpentine Gallery, London (2013), where he participated with other artists in the digital natives’ project 89plus. He is also a member of the GCC collective, whose works have been shown at the Sultan Gallery, Kuwait (2015); MoMA PS1, New York (2014); Sharjah Art Foundation, UAE (2014); New Museum, New York (2014) and Fridericianum, Kassel, Germany (2013), among other institutions.

Al Mutairi was born in 1990 in Kuwait. He currently lives and works between Kuwait and the United States.
