Biography

Bill Balaskas is a London-based interdisciplinary artist who studied economics before enrolling in the Royal College of Art, London, where he is currently a doctoral candidate. He is an editor for one of the most renowned academic journals in the field of New Media Art, the Leonardo Electronic Almanac (The MIT Press, London). His work has been widely exhibited internationally, in the context of more than 70 solo and group exhibitions. He has recently given public talks at Tate Liverpool, UK; the Germanisches Nationalmuseum, Nuremberg, Germany; Sabancı University, Istanbul, Turkey; the Thessaloniki Biennale, Greece; and the Victoria & Albert Museum, London. Last year, he represented the UK in the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad and in Maribor, Slovenia, the European Capital of Culture for 2012. In April 2012, the Global Board of Contemporary Art pronounced him one of the four most important emerging artists around the world (ALICE Awards). He is currently a nominee for the 2013 AUDI Art Award of Art Cologne for the most innovative young artist.
