Yang Fudong

Biography

Yang Fudong’s recently shifted to creating more abstract works or, as he calls them 'space films'.

Recent exhibitions include solo shows at Wifredo Lam Contemporary Art Center, Havana, Cuba (2011); Parasol Unit, London(2011); Kunsthaus Baselland, Basel, Switzerland (2010); National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens, Greece (2010); Zendai Museum of Modern Art, Shanghai (2009); Asia Society, New York(2009) and Museum of Contemporary Art, Denver, Colorado, USA (2009).

He presented the first installment of the five-part work Seven Intellectuals in Bamboo Forest at the Venice Biennale, in 2003, and showed all five parts there in 2007. He also exhibited at dOCUMENTA XI, Kassel, Germany (2002); Shanghai Biennale (2002); the Carnegie International, Pittsburgh, USA (2005) and the Asia Pacific Triennial, Brisbane, Australia (2006).
