Biography

Angelica Mesiti's past projects have focused on traditional music, movement languages and storytelling. At the core of her work is an ongoing interest in the potential of performed cultural practices as expressions of the particularities and history of a given place and community.

Mesiti's work has been featured across Australia and internationally in exhibitions and screenings including the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, India (2012); Volume One: MCA Collection, Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney (2012); Videobrasil, São Paulo, Brazil (2011); Rencontres Internationales, Centre Pompidou, Paris(2010); Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin, and Museo Reina Sofia, Madrid (2010)and No Soul for sale, Tate Modern, London (2010).
