Biography

Keith Sargent is an artist, filmmaker, graphic designer and educator. In addition to producing art exhibitions, and international trade shows, he is a director of the multidisciplinary design company b#1 (buildingnumberone).

His work has been featured in several international exhibitions, including Every Thought There Ever Was, John Hansard Gallery, Southampton (2020); Care(less), Ikon Gallery, Birmingham (2020); Bath Alumni, Bath Spa University, Bath (2020); 40th anniversary, Matt’s Gallery, London (2019); Vanishing Twin (Tetragametic Chimerism), Fotogalleriet, Oslo (2019); 2052 Selves [a biography], Knole House, UK (2018); and Liberated Words, Arnolfini, Bristol (2014).

Sargent’s films have been commissioned for commercial projects with clients such as Sony Ericsson, Mitsubishi, Cadbury, Canonical (Ubuntu), LG, Vodafone, MTV, Artangel and the D&AD. His films have been shown internationally, including Zebra Poetry Film Festival, Kino Babylon, Berlin (2012, 2014, 2020); Void Network, Embros, Athens (2011, 2012, 2020); Mattflix, online Matts Gallery, London (2020); Sweden Film Awards, Folkets Bio Royal Lulea, Sweden (2020); Vienna Science Film Festival, Schikaneder Theatre, Vienna (2020); Liberated Words, Arnolfini, Bristol (2014); Bath Mix, Corsham Court, Bath (2013); and Visible Verse, Vancouver (2012).

He has collaborated with artist Lindsay Seers on art installations and films, producing animations, film sequences and design work for Nowhere Less Now3 [flying saucer], Sharjah Art Foundation (2020); Care(less), Lincoln Castle, England (2020); Every Thought There Ever Was, Focal Point Gallery, London (2018); Mental Metal (Casebooks Project), Ambika P3, London (2017); and Mental Matter 2, Andaz Hotel, Art Night, London (2017).

As a publisher, Sargent has designed and/or commissioned 30 publications for an international audience, working with a range of artists, photographers, illustrators and writers.

Sargent graduated from the Royal College of Art, London (1988). He is currently a lecturer in the Visual Communication department at UCA Canterbury, UK (2015-present).

Born in 1963 in Wroughton, Wiltshire, UK, Sargent lives and works on the Isle of Sheppey, Sheerness-on-Sea, UK.
