Overview

Dubai is a city of superlatives that includes the largest, the highest, and the most expensive.

It is a land that seems to have been built overnight. Dubai: What’s left of her land? is intended as a showcase or visual document of what has happened to the land, how it has been used and how much is still asked of it.

Artist Reem Al Ghaith created a major installation using a wide-range of media that borrowed from and referenced the ubiquitous construction activity in Dubai.

Al Ghaith, Reem

The work of Reem Al Ghaith reflects the ambivalence felt by most Emiratis about the rapid changes that have brought wealth and opportunities but have also resulted in a loss of cultural identity.
