Overview

Combining site-specific installation, photography and performance, Taste of a Stone: Itiat Esa Ufok is situated in the courtyard and two rooms of Bait Khalid Ibrahim, a historical site in Sharjah's Heritage Area.

Eight photographic images, printed on Galala limestone, are placed in eight alcoves inside the house, along with a woven textile piece titled Kolanut Tales, 2012. the photographs are fragmented memories of spaces encountered during my childhood in Nigeria and other places in the world that, although geographically distant, display similar architectural outlines. As people are displaced to new regions, cultural traditions are shared and transformed.
