Overview

This solo exhibition of Simone Fattal’s recent works touches upon a number of conceptual ideas and influences from the environment, society, personal memory and history. Her earlier paintings explore the visual experience of Beirut’s Mount Sannine at dusk, while another series explore the darkness of the night sky. Another set of works incorporate religious and Sufi texts.

The artist’s two ‘Warrior’ sculptures are also based on two mythic heroes of an Arab epic by the name of Sira. She links these sculptures depicting a perpetual state of conflict with the current socio-political upheavals of the countries of the MENA region, hence making a socially relevant artistic statement.
