MM 2019: Africa is not a country; the Middle East is not a continent

MM 2019: Africa is not a country; the Middle East is not a continent

These two sessions of artists in conversation seek to consider what constitutes geography versus territory, revealing how specific regional contexts affect the art and culture that is produced. Specifically, this panel looks to put into discussion the associations between Africa and the Middle East, with a specific focus on deconstructing the mythology of these regions as a continent and individual countries, respectively. The two conversations between the artists will be followed by a roundtable discussion.
