Through her research-led practice, Olivia Plender (b. 1977, London) investigates the history of twentieth-century British radicalism and related sociopolitical developments. Her works frequently explore the relationships between gender, power and authority.
Her solo exhibitions have been held at Kalmar konstmuseum, Sweden (2023); Maureen Paley, London (2022); and Amant Foundation, New York (2022), among others. Plender has also participated in group shows, including Spring Never Comes Again, Zachęta National Gallery of Art, Warsaw (2023); The School of Creators, Centre Pompidou-Metz, France (2022); 34th São Paulo Biennial (2021); BAHAR, Off-Site Project for Sharjah Biennial 13, Istanbul (2017); Taipei Biennial (2010); Manifesta 8, Murcea (2010); and Altermodern: Tate Triennial, Tate Britain, London (2009).
She co-curated Chronos: Health, Access and Intimacy at Tensta Konsthall, Stockholm (2024). Her works can be found in several collections, including Tate Gallery in London and Malmö Konstmuseum, Sweden. Plender was awarded a PhD by Lund University, Sweden in 2024.
