Classical sarod player Pritam Ghosal (b. 1979, Kolkata) has performed extensively in India and abroad. A student of distinguished maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Ghosal has performed at several international venues with Chaar Yaar—an ensemble consisting of singer, writer and composer Madan Gopal Singh, percussionist Amjad Khan, guitarist Deepak Castelino and Ghosal on sarod. Ghosal collaborated with jazz pianist Sebastiaan Van Bavel at the World Jazz Festival in Amersfoort (2023). Since 2022, he has worked with poets and musicians from South Africa on various projects, including ‘Insurrections’, conceived by Cape Town University. An Afro-Asian initiative, the project reflects on the postcolonial era of India and Africa. Ghosal has also conducted workshops at South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal University and performed in the ‘Poetry Africa’ festival in Durban.
