In his artistic practice spanning diverse mediums, including painting and installation, Suvi Wahyudianto (b. 1992, Bangkalan, Indonesia) poetically explores visual language. He interprets tragic events related to past and present sociocultural tensions while unravelling issues related to identity politics. Through textual studies and participatory historical studies, as well as autoethnographic approaches, Suvi focuses on creating works that reveal new narratives as a counterpoint to mainstream ones, in an effort to deconstruct the discourse of violent conflict and encouraging ideas of reconciliation and increasing empathic awareness post conflict. His mixed-media work Angs't (ANGST) won the UOB Southeast Asian Painting of the Year award (2018). He graduated from Fine Arts Education at Surabaya State University (UNESA) and holds a Master of Fine Arts from Bandung Institute of Technology. In 2024, Suvi received the Prince Claus Seed Award and was also selected for the GoetheHaus Foyer programme.
