Luz María Bedoya attempts to locate traces of erosion, remains of dissolution, or signals of loss that point to the cracks in language and images. Examining the material presence, forms of circulation and customary deployment of these modes of communication, she registers both their capacity and failure. Her operations intend to open up precarious conditions in which secure, familiar definitions are rendered useless, often producing radical disjunctions, such as rifts between moving image, drawing and written text. In recent years, Bedoya has exhibited at Fondazione Fotografia, Modena, Italy (2012); Pinacoteca de São Paulo, Brazil (2011); Centro Cultural Gabriela Mistral, Santiago, Chile (2011); PhotoIreland, Dublin (2010) and in Videoarde: Critical Video in Latin America and the Caribbean, which travelled throughout Latin America and abroad (2009). In 2005, Bedoya represented Peru at the Venice Biennale, Italy. This person was part of Sharjah Biennial 11
