Başak Günak

Başak Günak (b. 1987, Istanbul) is a composer and sound artist known as AH! KOSMOS in the field of electronic music. Her practice spans site-specific performances and compositions for theatre, dance, film and visual arts. Günak’s works have been presented at various international institutions and festivals, including the Barbican Theatre, London; Martin-Gropius-Bau, Berlin; Royal Theater Carré, Amsterdam; Sonar Festival, Barcelona; CTM Festival, Berlin; Rotterdamse Schouwburg; and Prague Quadrennial. Among her recent sound installations are THE WELL, Arter, Istanbul (2020), and distant hollow(s) like you, Çinili Hammam, Istanbul (2023). She has composed for Berlin State Museums, Gropius Bau and Kunstmuseum Basel and participated in residencies at HELLERAU European Centre for the Arts, Dresden; Bijloke Academy, Ghent; and Elektronmusikstudion, Stockholm. In 2023, she was invited by the Dutch National Opera to develop an experimental opera work.
