Curator, writer and researcher E.N. Mirembe (b. 1997, Uganda) is currently based at the Museum für Moderne Kunst (MMK) in Frankfurt. Their practice attends to literary and visual cultures through a black studies lens, drawing on work by Black writers and artists as experimental ground for conversation, critical fabulation, play, theory and method. Together with Rosie Olang’ Odhiambo, they have co-curated in transit under another sky, (2024–ongoing) with iterations in Kampala and Nairobi (2024); Njabala: An Elegy, Makerere Art Gallery, Kampala (2024); and Ange-Frédéric Koffi's solo exhibition at the limit of dream, Nosbaum Reding, Brussels (2023). They have participated in residencies and fellowships with LUX, London; ARAK Collection, Doha; Bag Factory Artists' Studios, Johannesburg; 32° East, Kampala; and Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa, Cape Town. They have served as Managing Editor of Writivism and published in Artforum, Africa Is a Country and African Arguments. Mirembe studied history at the University of the Western Cape.
