Luana Vitra

Luana Vitra was born in 1995 and raised in the state of Minas Gerais, in a region of Brazil known for its monumental natural landscapes, which is also profoundly marked by industrial mining activities. She has therefore always experienced various possible manifestations of iron and soot. Straddling carpentry (on her father’s side) and words (on her mother’s side), her practice stems from processes that recognise the physical qualities and subtle contours of matter, while also investigating the psycho-emotional infusion of landscapes. From compositions made with a wide range of materials, her objects and installations reconfigure universal symbols and elaborate others, especially those invested in the qualities of matter and that evoke poetry, discuss subjectivities and raise political questions.
