Oscar Gardea

Oscar Gardea is a scholar, mask-maker and ghostwriter whose research centres on intersections of organised crime and ritual violence, as well as myth and the manifold voices of the supernatural. He has been active in counterculture for two decades, focusing on human rights and the prevention of the systematic elimination of lives in the Third World. An alumnus of the Center for Human Rights and the Arts master’s programme, Gardea also holds a PhD in Philosophy, Art and Critical Thought from the European Graduate School, where he was supervised by Fred Moten who conferred him with the degree of magna cum laude. He is currently a doctoral candidate at the Angewandte in Vienna.
