Restu Ratnaningtyas

Restu Ratnaningtyas (b. 1981, Tangerang, Indonesia) studied Fine Arts Education at the National University of Jakarta (2000). In 2009, she moved to Yogyakarta, where she still lives and works. Her practice includes a variety of explorations in the fields of video art, painting, installation and multimedia, through which she delves into the potential of wide-ranging mediums, especially watercolour, paper and fabric. She focuses on actual, everyday topics and creates works that reflect on how time relates to the balance of human life. Solo exhibitions include Tantrum, Kedai Kebun Forum, Yogyakarta (2016); Subsume, Baik Art Gallery, Los Angeles (2017); Domain/Terrain, Cemeti Art, Yogyakarta (2019); and CYANOSIS, Serrum Gallery Gudskul Ekosistem, Jakarta (2019), amongst others. Restu has also participated in international group exhibitions, including mnēmonikos: Art of Memory, Jim Thompson Art Center, Bangkok (2013); The Roving Eye, Arter, Istanbul (2014); Termasuk, Darren Knights Gallery, Sydney (2020); Stealing Public Space, Substation, Singapore (2020); and contour 556, Canberra Art Biennial (2020).
