Tara Al Dughaither

Tara Al Dughaither (Dhahran, Saudi Arabia) is an independent arts mediator, a cultural producer focusing on process-based methods of embodied research within eco-feminist and time-based frameworks. She is also the founder of the Sawtasura (since 2020), an alternative music research and learning platform for socially engaged artists practicing within and around the Arab Gulf. The artist received her BA in Mass Communication from the American University of Sharjah (2013) and an MA in Culture, Criticism and Curation from Central Saint Martins, London (2015). She has lived and worked in Muscat, Jeddah and Riyadh while consistently focusing on developing a pedagogy around intergenerational, ecological, social and spiritual narratives. Al Dughaither has curated, commissioned, collected, archived and exhibited more than 120 original records in both private and government cultural venues since her return to Saudi in 2019, and she continues to invest in a developing personal practice around alternative women’s narratives and experimental musical composition.
