Anga Art Collective

Anga Art Collective explore the cultural and geographic urgencies of Assam, a state in northeastern India. Utilising art as a tool for critical engagement, they shift from the traditional studio setup into a decentralised network, thus fostering interdisciplinary knowledge-sharing across communities. Founded in 2010 to create a platform for critical discussion of local visual and material culture, Anga Art support both individual and collaborative projects involving artists, academics, village communities and activists. The collective founded a public outreach and pedagogical project called kNOw School (2020), and they established an indigenous library project and community space titled Granary in Bhalla Village, Assam (2022). The collective have been involved in numerous exhibitions, including the Dhaka Art Summit (2023) and Very Small Feelings at the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, New Delhi (2023). They have also collaborated with rural artisans on projects addressing cultural heritage, ecological sustainability and social justice.
