Born in Saudi Arabia, Ayman Zedani pursues an investigative practice that works to upend our comprehension of the past and challenge our acceptance of the future. His work includes videos, installations and immersive environments that consider the future of the Gulf. The artist’s resultant projects are platforms that invite audiences to observe human-nonhuman symbiosis, leaving his narratives open to a multitude of interpretations and questions.
Zedani’s recent projects and participations include non-human-collaborators (2020), the Institut du monde arabe, Paris (2024); the Islamic Arts Biennale, Jeddah (2023); the Staatliche Kunsthalle, Baden-Baden (2022); Desert X AlUla (2022); the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF) (2022); the Diriyah Biennale (2021); the Sustainability Pavilion, Expo 2020, Dubai (2020); the Lahore Biennale (2020); 21,39 Jeddah Arts (2020); NYUAD Art Gallery, Abu Dhabi (2019); the Bienalsur International Biennial, Buenos Aires (2019); and the Sharjah Art Foundation (2018).
