Dian Suci Rahmawati

Dian Suci Rahmawati (b. 1985, Kebumen, Indonesia) is a multimedia artist living in Yogyakarta. Her practice intersects domestic narratives and the political power of the state, often addressing issues related to the political domestication of women, authoritarianism and fascism, patriarchy and capitalism. In 2009, the artist graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the Islamic University of Indonesia in Yogyakarta. Rahmawati has participated in group exhibitions, including On Connectivity, Kohesi Initiatives, Yogyakarta (2022); Broken White Project: Tropenwelle, Mizuma Gallery, Singapore (2022); and Do We Live in the Same Playground?, Biennale Jogja XV Equator, Jogja National Museum (2019). In 2020, she received the Debra Porch Award from the Australia Council for the Arts. In 2021, the artist won the Gold Winner Award in the Established Artist Category at UOB Painting of the Year Indonesia. Additionally, Rahmawati received the Mentorship Award: Moving Narratives from the Prince Claus Fund and the British Council (2024).
