Kapulani Landgraf is a kupa [native] of Pūʻahuʻula, Kāneʻohe. Her books Nā Wahi Pana O Koʻolau Poko (University of Hawaiʻi Press, 1994) and Nā Wahi Kapu o Maui (ʻAi Pōhaku Press, 2003) received Ka Palapala Poʻokela awards for Excellence in Illustrative Books in 1995 and 2004, respectively. She also published Ē Luku Wale Ē (ʻAi Pōhaku Press, 2015) with Mark Hamasaki. Kapulani received a National Arts Fellowship from the Native Arts and Cultures Foundation in the United States (2013) and the Painters and Sculptors Grant from the Joan Mitchel Foundation (2014). She is a professor of art and director of Gallery ʻIolani at Windward Community College, Kāne‘ohe, Oʻahu, Hawaii.
