Mariam M. Alnoaimi is a Bahrain-based artist who works at the intersection of visual arts and urbanism. In her research-led practice, she draws on her education in Urban Design—she received a Master of Urban Design from the College of Architecture and Planning at the University of Colorado in Denver (2017)—to contemplate relationships between people and their surroundings, in addition to how they affect and shape each other. Her installations, video pieces, photography, collages and participatory community works examine questions around cartography, cognitive mapping and the built and natural environments.
Alnoaimi’s work has been exhibited at the Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition since 2014. Outside of Bahrain, her works were included in Between the Tides: A Gulf Quinquennial, NYUAD Art Gallery, Abu Dhabi (2024); Staple: what’s on your plate?, Hayy Jameel, Jeddah (2022); The Wait, Venice Biennale (2019); and ArtBAB (Art Bahrain Across Borders), Saatchi Gallery, London (2017).
