Initiated in 1997, Womanifesto brings together exhibitions, workshops and artist-in-residence programmes to foster cultural exchanges and strengthen connections with community groups. Its mission is to enhance international cultural relations and engage local communities, thus promoting new and emerging artistic expressions. The project also links Thai practitioners with regional and international artists, emphasising shared cultures and fresh exchanges. In 2008, Womanifesto established a residency programme to continue the dialogue that had begun at the 2001 workshop. Held in a unique environment, it unites diverse generations to sustain a way of life that integrates various art forms. Workshops involve exposing students from local schools and universities to art and culture discourse whilst highlighting the cultural richness of the local Lao, Khmer, Suay and Yeau communities. The initiative focuses on the role of women and the intergenerational transmission of knowledge, engaging artisans and exploring traditional materials and lifestyles.
