A graphic score guiding a sonic exploration through embodied improvisation, Confluence of Rivers in E Minor expands on Boundaries of the Dreaming Body by Tara Al Dughaither, a Sharjah Biennial 16 participating artist. Rooted in Sumerian mythology, the piece unfolds in three movements: sonic flow, sacred union and literary echoes. Inspired by the confluence of land and sea at Babiyan Island in Shatt Al Arab, the composition follows the movement of the Tigris, Euphrates and Arabian Gulf, using sound as a metaphor for fragmented consciousness. In this performance, musicians navigate shifting sonic landscapes, culminating in a moment of unity that reflects the region’s deep history of both connection and division.
