Dialogue (YAZ Publications Activation)
Dawn Chan (Senior Lecturer, Bard's Center for Curatorial Studies); Christianna Bonin (Assistant Professor of Art History and Theory, American University of Sharjah; curator; critic)
This conversation builds upon the intersections between ‘Hedge Principle,’ Dawn Chan’s text in YAZ Publications, and Christianna Bonin’s research on economic and cultural shifts in post-Soviet Central Asia. Together, they explore the potential for art to refract a post-Cold War global landscape wherein, in recent decades, collectivist ideologies have been replaced by a proliferation of deregulated markets that encourage untrained individuals to place their hopes in highly speculative investment strategies in the pursuit of financial security.
