Nadi Abusaada, editor of Resurgent Nahda: The Arab Exhibition in Mandate Jerusalem, calls attention to the challenges in gathering archival materials for the book, which pays tribute to two Arab exhibitions held in Mandate Jerusalem in 1933 and 1934. Abusaada highlights the economic and artistic resilience during a period of struggle against Zionism and British colonialism in the Arab world.
About Nadi Abusaada
Nadi Abusaada is an Assistant Professor at the School of Architecture and Design in the American University of Beirut. He holds a PhD in architecture from the University of Cambridge and has previously worked at MIT and ETH Zurich. His areas of interest include modern histories of art and architecture in the Arab region.
About Faris Shomali
Researcher and archivist Faris Shomali is a doctoral candidate in anthropology at the University of Toronto. His research focuses on Palestinian art and the politics surrounding its circulation. He previously served as the Digitisation Manager at the Palestinian Museum Digital Archive.
