Biography

Barış Doğrusöz is an artist and filmmaker whose projects have taken the form of audiovisual installations, sculpture, graphic works, photography and drawings. His practice finds its starting point in the residual matter of a more or less distant past.

Doğrusöz’s work has been presented internationally in solo and group exhibitions at Sharjah Biennial 13 (2017); KADIST, Paris (2017); Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, the Netherlands (2016); SALT Beyoglu, Istanbul and SALT Ulus, Ankara (2015-2016); Asia Culture Center, Gwangju, South Korea (2015); nGBK, Berlin (2015) and the symposium Crossing Borders, Traversing Narratives, University of St. Andrews, Scotland (2014), among others.

Doğrusöz holds a BA in Visual Arts and an MFA from the Haute école des arts du Rhin (HEAR), Mulhouse-Strasbourg, France. He also completed a fellowship at the Home Workspace Program, Ashkal Alwan, Beirut (2015-2016).

Born in Istanbul in 1978, Doğrusöz currently lives and works between Beirut and Istanbul.
