Across her collaborative and individual practice, artist Yaminay Chaudhri, uses writing, digital media and engagement to process Karachi as a site of conflicting aspirations. Her current work seeks alternatives to these aspirations and a potential to exit capitalization in unexpected places. Chaudhri has participated in numerous shows internationally, including Border Control: Traversing Horizons in Media Practice, Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, US (2019); Who Gets to Talk About Whom?, AAN Gandhara Art Space, Karachi (2018); Rooms Are Never Finished, Maraya Art Centre, Sharjah (2018) and AAN Gandhara Art Space, Karachi (2017); Karachi Biennale (2017); IAWRT Asian Women’s Film Festival, New Delhi (2017) and They Really Live the Real Reality, Twelve Gates Arts, Philadelphia, US (2015). Chaudhri earned a Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University, Ithaca, US (2002) and a Master of Fine Arts from the State University of New York at Albany, US (2011).
