Synopsis

The Brain That Sings follows the lives of six year old Khalifa and 18 year old Mohammed, two boys with autism in the United Arab Emirates through three months of music therapy.

Director

Amal Al Agroobi is a Film Director, Producer and Writer. She is the founder of independent film production house 'ALAGROOBI Films', which was established in 2013. A native of the United Arab Emirates, Al Agroobi had an international upbringing and graduated with a BSc in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Durham, UK and an Msc in Neurosciences from University College London before pursuing her passion for film.

Al Agroobi's career began with HALF EMIRATI, a short documentary that became the most watched film at the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) in late 2012. This won her the 'Best Up and Coming Filmmaker of 2013' award at the Digital Studio Awards in Dubai. The following year, she produced and directed a feature documentary, The Brain That Sings which won her multiple awards at International Film Festivals, in addition to the 'The People's Choice Award 2013' at DIFF.

Later, Al Agroobi was bestowed the title 'Her Excellency' by royal decree for her commendations in the business and media sectors. She is continuing to produce documentary and feature film projects.
