Overview

Sharjah Film Platform Montage (SFP Montage) is a series of special projects and initiatives linked to our annual film festival. Featuring films from past editions of Sharjah Film Platform, SFP Montage forges new associations among the works and expands their reach beyond Sharjah. Part of this new endeavour, The Tale of Two explores the concept of conflicting dualities and includes an ensemble of fiction and documentary films directed by women.

The films featured in The Tale of Two include Animalia, Four Daughters and Tiger Strips, which explore the boundary between fantasy and reality, making the viewer question what is real and what is not. In Joonam, We No Longer Prefer Mountains and Machtat, we see a glimpse of the characters’ private and public identities as they navigate both internal and external struggles. Removed, uprooted and transposed from their environments, the protagonists in Babygirl, La Bonga and Feet in Water, Head on Fire investigate the consequences of existence, whether sadness and a longing for the past or growth and hope for the future.

Taking place in Istanbul Modern from 9 to 19 May 2024, the programme is organised by Istanbul Modern in collaboration with Sharjah Art Foundation.
