Sharjah Biennial 16

Sharjah, United Arab Emirates
6 Febuary — 15 June 2025

Description

Inspired by Vantage Point Sharjah 7, this indoor photography workshop will introduce participants to the aesthetics of the age-old pinhole photography. A pinhole camera, also known as camera obscura, mean-ing ‘darkroom’, is a simple lightproof box without a lens that makes use of an optical phenomenon in which light rays pass through a tiny hole or aperture, projecting an inverted image onto a screen that is placed opposite the hole.

Participants will learn how to create their own pinhole camera using a cardboard box, cereal box or shoe box. They will then experiment with creating imaginative photographs while learning about the workings of the camera and the human eye.

Please note that participants are required to bring in their own cereal box or shoe box for this workshop.
