Overview
For major institutions, working directly with artists on commissions and residencies offers a range of possibilities to create new and sometimes spectacular works that often are in direct response to audiences and institutional architecture or site. This panel will consider why there has been such an increase in this type of programming, how does this reflect current priorities and are there models from the past that can offer insight and alternatives for the 21st century institution?
