Description
Following Baudelaire’s The Anabasis of May and Fusako Shigenobu, Masao Adachi and 27 Years without Images (2011), this film marks a unique collaboration based on his commissioning of a screenplay by Adachi, adapted on the fly and shot by the artist in Beirut. Expanding upon Baudelaire’s ongoing examination of the relationships between images and events, documentation and history, The Ugly One is a confrontation between two generations of politics and filmmaking, exploring the question of militancy and regret.
