Date: Saturday, 29 October 2022
Timings: 3:00pm – 7:30pm
Meeting point: Bait Al Shamsi, Arts Square
Ages: 15+
Language: English

Once considered only a traditional handicraft, textiles, embroidery and tapestries are now being used to depict narratives and creative concepts that tell stories of identity. In this workshop, participants will explore these themes through a tour of Pop South Asia with a focus on the work of Saba Khan, Baseera Khan and Hangama Amiri. The tour will be followed by an excursion around the textile market in SAF neighbourhood, and then participants will discuss, envision and produce their own narrative textile piece mock-up based on their observations.
