The use of sound—becoming a medium of its own—has recently grown more popular within the practice of many artists around the world. In the first half of this workshop, look into some of the theoretical underpinnings of using sound, and study examples of artists from different times and places who employ sound and music within their work. In the second half, find out about freely accessible tools for compiling music or sound. You will be able to explore easily downloadable software from the internet, browser-based music environments and recent artificial intelligence tools.
