Principles of Arabic Calligraphy (Beginners)
Course for Youth and Adults
Date: two days from Monday to Thursday, 19 September– 29 December 2022
Timings: 10:00 am–12:00 pm OR 5:00 pm–7:00 pm
Location: Al Dhaid Art Centre, Al Madam Art Centre, Al Hamriyah Art Centre, Dibba Al Hisn Art Centre, Kalba Art Centre, Khorfakkan Art Centre

In this course, participants will be introduced to a simplified version of an Arabic calligraphic script as well as techniques and tools used in calligraphy (e.g. reed pens, metal pens, inks, silk threads and fused paper). They will also receive training in how to use these tools, particularly the way to sharpen reed pens and make them ready for writing. They will focus on Ruqa’a script since it is the basis of all other scripts.
