In keeping with Sharjah Art Foundation’s commitment to supporting the community, this reference tool, updated on a regular basis, includes grants, exhibitions and educational opportunities.

18th edition of Rawi Screenwriters Lab
Royal Film Commission – Jordan, Amman

Rawi Screenwriters Lab is an annual five-day screenplay development workshop aimed at independent Arab screenwriters working on their first or second narrative feature screenplays. Screenwriters joining the lab will experience one-on-one mentoring sessions with internationally acclaimed screenwriters (Rawi’s Creative Advisors) from all over the world.

Open Call: SFP6 Short Film Production Grant
Sharjah Art Foundation

Sharjah Art Foundation invites local and international filmmakers to apply for the sixth edition of the Sharjah Film Platform (SFP) Short Film Production Grant. Offered in conjunction with SFP—the Foundation’s annual festival of independent cinema and moving image—the grant provides funds for the completion of short films that test the boundaries of contemporary filmmaking. Grant recipients are expected to premiere their completed films at a future edition of SFP. The recipients will share a total of 30,000 USD; the monetary amount and the number of awardees will be determined on an as-needed basis.

Future Generation Art Prize 2023

The Future Generation Art Prize is a biannual global contemporary art prize to discover, recognize and give long-term support to a future generation of artists.

All artists aged 35 or younger from anywhere in the world, working in any medium are invited to apply for the Prize.

An outstanding selection committee, appointed by a distinguished international jury, reviews every application and nominates 20 artists for the short list. These artists will be commissioned to create new works that go on display at the PinchukArtCentre in Kyiv. Subsequently, all of them will present their works in the Future Generation Art Prize exhibition at the Venice Biennale.

NYU Abu Dhabi Project Space Exhibition Application 2023–2024
NYUAD Art Gallery, Abu Dhabi

The NYUAD Art Gallery invites members of the community (of the UAE, and/or of NYUAD) to propose an exhibition in The Project Space. Located in The NYU Abu Dhabi Arts Center, The Project Space is a non-commercial gallery supported by the museum-trained staff of The NYU Abu Dhabi Art Gallery. The exhibition should be conceived as a complete exhibition, ideally one that has a curator or conceptual producer.

Open Call: Self Organizations
Mophradat, Brussels
Deadline: 15 June 2023

Self Organizations is a programme that offers support to projects where different art practitioners take the initiative and join forces to define a mutual resource or interest that’s important for their work, and propose how to share or develop it. Art practitioners from all disciplines and stages of their careers are welcome to apply. Priority will be given to proposals taking place within the Arab world.

Cinema Grant
The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, Beirut
Deadline: 4 July 2023

The Cinema grant is open to all kinds of fiction film projects. The program welcomes submissions of short and medium-length narrative films in production and post-production and feature narratives that are in development, production or post-production phases.

The program provides annual grants ranging from a few thousand U.S. dollars up to a maximum of ten thousand U.S. dollars for Development grants, up to fifty thousand U.S. dollars for Production and a maximum of twenty-five thousand U.S. dollars for Post-production grants.

Projects may be implemented anywhere as long as they are created by Arab filmmakers.

Training and Regional Events Grant
The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, Beirut

The Training and Regional Events grant supports trainings and workshops in the different cultural and artistic fields, in addition to residencies, symposiums, forums, and festivals (multidisciplinary, music, film, performing arts, visual arts, literature…).

The program provides annual grants ranging from a few thousand U.S. dollars up to a maximum of 25,000 U.S. dollars for individuals and teams and 35,000 U.S dollars for institutions and collectives.

AFAC is open to receive project applications from all Arab individuals working in arts and culture. AFAC also accepts proposals from local, regional and international institutions whose projects are related to Arab culture.

Music Grant

The Music grant supports production, performances, collaborations, album recordings and festivals.

The program provides annual grants ranging from a few thousand U.S. dollars up to a maximum of 25,000 U.S. dollars for individuals and teams, and 35,000 for institutions and collectives.

AFAC is open to receiving project applications from all Arab individuals working in arts and culture. AFAC also accepts proposals from local, regional and international institutions whose projects are related to Arab culture.
