Alexis Bhagat speaks and writes on anarchism, cartography, cinema, sound art, peace, and language. His sound compositions are deployed as installations, 'lectures' and radio broadcasts, and he frequently collaborates with the transmission arts organisation free103point9. He also hosts a regular programme on sound, music and aural culture called Speakers on Red House Art Radio. He is Co-editor with Lize Mogel of An Atlas of Radical Cartography (Journal of Aesthetics and Protest, 2007), a collection of 10 maps and 10 essays on social issues ranging from garbage to globalisation.
He is Co-curator, with Lauren Rosati, of ((audience)), a travelling sound art festival investigating the cinema as concert hall. Since 2006, Mogel and Bhagat have collaborated on An Atlas of Radical Cartography, a publication, exhibition, and discursive project that brings art, cartography and activism together.
This person was part of Sharjah Biennial 10
The Sharjah InfoCart is a mobile kiosk that traveled to malls and outdoor public places in Sharjah including Al Qasba, Sahara Centre Mall, Rolla, and Al-Jubail bus station, during January and February 2011.
Accompanying and complementing the main premise of Sharjah Biennial 10, Plot for a Biennial explores the concept of a ‘conversation’ through printed matter.
