Biography

Saeed Almadani’s work comprises a wide range of mediums, including printmaking, sculpture and mixed media. Drawing on elements of conceptual, minimalist, scientific and abstract strategies, he explores the relationship between language, place and material form and the process of writing and non-representational art in articulating attachments and (de)constructing identities.

Almadani’s exhibitions include Thulathi: Threefold, Dubai Design Week, Dubai (2018); Nom, Guest Projects, London (2018); Portrait of a Nation, me Collectors Room Berlin (2017) and Emirati Expressions, Manarat Al Saadiyat, Abu Dhabi (2015). His work is part of the Royal College of Art Print Collection, London, and ADMAF, Abu Dhabi.

He participated in the Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artists Fellowship, in partnership with the Rhode Island School of Design, Abu Dhabi (2014). He was also the recipient of two awards to support his graduate education: the Abraaj Innovation Scholarship (2016) and the Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artists Scholarship (2016).

Almadani received a master’s degree in printmaking from the Royal College of Art, London (2018). He was born in Dubai, where he continues to live and work.
