Biography

Binna Choi is a curator and researcher who focuses on notions of community, intercultural relations and alternative approaches to social critique and empowerment.

Since May 2008, Choi has been director of Casco – Office for Art, Design and Theory, Utrecht, the Netherlands, where she has developed the long-term transdisciplinary and collaborative research project The Grand Domestic Revolution (with Maiko Tanaka, October 2009-2014) and the artistic research programme Composing the Commons (2013-2016). In this context, she is a faculty member in the Masters of Fine Arts Program, Dutch Art Institute, Arnhem and the Arts Collaboratory, Casco, a transnational network of socially engaged art organisations across the world. She also worked as curator for the 11th edition of Gwangju Biennale, South Korea (2016).
