Biography

Deniz Kirkali is a curator and writer based between Istanbul and London. She is the co-founder of topsoil, a transnational curatorial and research collective, and Garp Sessions, a summer programme in Babakale, Turkey. Her curatorial projects include Sweet Garden of Vanishing Desires, ArtOn Istanbul; Reciprocity Muscles, Cala, Berlin; My Dear Friends, Depo, Istanbul; and Make it Hot, Cool it Down, Turn it Over, London. She was the assistant curator of the 10th BACA Award Exhibition, Bonnefantenmuseum, Maastricht; Pavilion of Turkey at the 58th Venice Biennale; and BAHAR, Sharjah Biennial 13’s offsite project in Istanbul. Her writings have been published in international magazines and platforms, including AQNB, Flash Art, this is tomorrow, Cogito and Art Unlimited. She is the co-author of Otomy, published in 2022, and winner of the Volumes Book Award 2022. Currently, she is a PhD candidate in Advanced Practices at Goldsmiths, University of London.
